I LOVE this flat iron and it was worth the money! Bought this a few months ago for my thick African American hair - all the reviews were right - this one does the job! Folica.com rocks - the shipping is SO fast. I recommend this site to all my friends.
Works on Natural African-American Hair!

I am an African-American who has been perm-free for over a year. I had been wearing braids and was ready for a change, so I tried other cheaper flat irons that just made my hair frizzy. I decided to splurge on this more expensive SOLIA and IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! I don't even have to blow-dry my hair first. I just towel dry, apply Kera-Care Pressing Creme and voila...Solia makes my hair straight and silky! The first time my friends saw it, they thought I had gotten a perm...the SOLIA is definitely a great buy!

I'm a mixed-race (African/caucasion) mother of 4 kids with a variety of hair types ranging from (1)fine, kinky-requiring chemical straightners,(2)long, thick and curly (3)coarse-mostly straight/slight wave, and (4) thick, short, and wavy. I have been flat-ironing for many years (with great care...due to the chemical straightners I use) trying almost every brand out there including pro models. Most were bulky to use, time consuming, burned my skin if I got too close (which is easy when the plate edges are flat and go all the way to the edges), and dried the heck out of my hair (regardless of hair conditioners/protectants applied). Additionally, they took a long time to heat and cool down, the temp controls were there more for the pretext of control than actually being at the selected setting (I had an electrician check them for accuracy before I bought the solia). One of them was set to 325, but actually baked mmy hair at 425F!!! The Chi worked okay, but the temps were inconsistent and it stopped working within a few months....it faired not much better than anything I got at WalMart, Target, or drugstore brands. I purchased this width because it's width is perfect for not only flat ironing any hair length, but offers the ability to curl and style your hair in many other ways. I can dump all my other stupid curling rods! This thing rocks for my whole family. Although my 13 year old son's blessed with gorgeous, dark thick, pretty-much straight hair (waves on edges when it's longer than 2 inches)... he's opted for his new look as skater straight razor cut shag. It used to take 20 minutes (and doing a pretty crappy job) to flatten it...it left crease marks and would flatten hair crooked if it wasn't put on the plates perfectly straight-which is stupid because if your hair was that straight..you wouldn't need the flat iron!). Now it's done in 5 minutes and it shines and does not burn. He was popular in school before, but after the Solia...he's gotten attention from many more folks. Even the guys are asking how to do their hair like his! My 15 year old daughter loves her curls, but her hair is long... and having so much hair is cumbersome....and if it rains or is really humid the frizz comes in full throttle. She looks a banshee! She likes to change her look when she dresses up or is performing in dance competitions...the straight hair offers ease, movement, and a whole new look.(Anyone that has curly hair truly relates to this drastic change in their look and also how others look at you!) I've noticed her confidence and attitude changes when she goes "straight"....she loves it, but didn't do it a lot because the flat irons we had took forever (1hour and 1/2 for length to the shoulder blades)...and it would last for more than a day or two at best even without washing. All that work for nothing! In order to get the look she wanted...we had to go to the salon....even the Chi didn't come close to performing to the salon effect. So I bought the solia...and 20 minutes is all it took...salon pro finish and it even lasts in the rain! I don't have to help her with her hair anymore and it heats/cools immediately. I have not tried it on my other son (sort wavy blond), but when and if he decides he wants to use the Solia...I know it'll more than do the job. Thanks Folica for offering the Solia brand available at such a too-good-to-be ture price. It was worth every penny!
Wonderful~

It works amazingly well. Of course, I was relieved that it didn't fry my hair because I am a very aesthetics sort of person. My hair looks and feels extremely soft, even though my hair is soft before I iron it and it straightens very easily. What I loved a lot is that it brought out the many layers in my hair. If you take too much hair or if you have it placed weirdly, it will snag the hair but that's just common sense. The iron is lightweight and easy to grip, it glides right through the hair. Plus, it worked wonderfully on my mother's stubborn hair too.
The best iron ever !!!!!!!

Hi, I just want to say that this Solia hair iron is the best in the market. I used to have a T3 iron but after 3 years it didn't work the same so I decided to buy a new one, at first I bougth a Sedu iron from Folica cause all the reviews were very good but I just wanna say you that it didn't work very well cause my hair didn't look so straigth and smooth so I returned it and I search for another one and I pick up this one for Solia and I can tell you that this Solia iron is a whoooleeeeeeeee better than Sedu, I just love how straigth my hair, it feels very silk too so I recomended to everyone, this is the best hair iron in the world you won't regret.
Amazing!!

I absolutely love this iron! It leaves your hair shiny and smooth! I usually use it after my hair air dries and it tames it so quickly! The length of my hair is a bit past my shoulders and it takes me about 25 minutes to make it look good with this iron! I also own a wet to dry Chi and that CHI doesn't hold a candle to this iron believe me.
Still works wonders- - even after a year

I purchased Sedu about two years ago, well after a year it decided to stop working, period! I was tempted to repurchase it again, but wanted to try something new. I can across the Solia flat irons and said, what the heck, I should just chance it anyway, if it didn't work as well as I wanted it too, I could simply return it. Well, low and behold after a year and a half it still works like the day I purchased it, it does the job! I have really long, thick hair that passed my butt, however it tends to be a bit wavy when it wants too. With Solia it only takes a little under 20 minutes, if I want it to be stick straight (which is not often), but it still does wonders! Invest in one, it's great

I debated a long time about which flat iron to get - the Solia or the Sedu. I chose the Solia and I am very happy with it. Before this flat iron, I have owned a Conair (horrible) and a Jilbere - I had that one for three years and liked it a lot. But, by comparison, the Solia is much better. My ends are so much softer now than they were using the other irons. Far fewer split ends. It only takes about ten minutes to straighten my hair - or less. I like the temperature control, too. I use the Chi Silk Infusion first before straightening it. I put it on when my hair dries, just the size of a tic tac - a little goes a long way with this stuff. Then, I straighten my hair. It really gives it a polished shine. I definitely recommend this straightener. :)
