I'm not one to write a review the first couple of times I use a product. Once a product can withstand the test of time it becomes noteworty,. I have had this flat iron since November 2006. I have loved it since the first time I used it. I am African American with natural/nappy/4b/however you wish to label it hair. Whenever I straighten my hair it looks as if I have a perm and when I wash it it returns back to it healthy natural state. Now of course I can attribute the styling of my hair to practice and products, but this is a great product that makes a difference. After almost 2 years of owning this iron I am conviinced of it's value as an investment. What really made me laugh and write a review is my mother. She an I have the same hair textures, but the difference between she and I is that she is extreamlely frugle "cheap" and after I did her hair with my flat iron she went right out and got one herself. This is huge. It's a great iron. I am not sure if its the iron itself or the tourmaline technology...but solia has set the bar for me and mine. Sorry for typos I hate proofreading.

i just bought one last week, tried it tonight and love it. Mind you, i have ethnic curly hair which is colored and processed so its not in the best of conditions. i didnt even blow dry it i just wanted to see how it could look it i went from dry curly and used the iron. i love how it came out! it came out straight, not dead straight like if i would have blow dried it but compared to how little work went into it i was shocked it is straight!!! i used to have a chi and it worked well but it wouldn't seal my ends that well and it would take several go overs to get it truly straight to last.
Since April 2008, been happy with it!

I bought this one after my one from the kiosk in the mall suckered me into purchasing theirs that only last 13 months, and twice the price!...(figures right?)...Found this website and read the reviews and decided to purchase this brand...very happy with the design and make of the flat iron, heats up quickly....overall, to get my hair pin straight...this iron makes it almost effortless!! oh, and the burn free storage bag to keep it in thrown in free was a BIG BONUS for me!! no more burning my vanity top!
Loves it

I actually bought a Sedu along with this product to compare them side by side. I like that the Solia goes up to 450 degrees, whereas the Sedu only goes up to 410. Also, don't think I have ever burned myself with the Solia, but I have with the Sedu. I think that the Sedu's plates are short, so less hair can be straightened at once, but I think the Sedu's plates get a better contact than the Solia. I use both on my bangs when they are wet and both work great.
woohoo!

I have naturally wavy hair and have been looking for a solution for my bangs, which LOVE to curl every which way, making my bangs look absolutely disgusting. I was getting really frustrated with using a curling iron to do a sub-par straightening job, so after researching, I finally purchased this iron. I've had no problems with this iron, except sometimes the light doesn't come on if I turn it off and turn it back on again without unplugging it or waiting a minute or so in between. I do straighten my whole head with this as well, and it works great. I just need a bit more practice haha. Just a side note, I do believe I'm the 3000th review!
why get the sedu when this is just as good?

i've had my solia for a little more than a year and it has been through a lot (lots of trips, dropped many times, etc.) and it still works great! i have wavy hair, and it makes it sleek, smooth and very soft! works just as well the sedu, so why spend $30 more?
Best one!
