Product Rating: 5 Cannot Live Without....
Reviewer: Chantalle from Miami, FL  6/27/2009

I have search my lifetime (32 years) for the right products for my hair. I am a light skinned Jamaica with very curly hair. I get a relaxer every 4-6 months and have fairly long hair (to my bra strap). I blow dry and then flat iron my hair so I was looking for a product to protect my hair from the heat. Since I've been getting relaxers my hair is much more prone to split ends. I started using Hot Sauce about six months ago and I have noticed a dramatic decrease in my split ends. I think the only reason I actually had split ends is become I went twice as long as I normally do before my last trim. This product is AMAZING! I make sure I never run out. I currently have a 4 bottle stash to make sure that doesn't happen!

Product Rating: 5 Best heat protector
Reviewer: anonymous from Silicon Valley, CA  6/3/2009

I am Puerto Rican with course, tight, natually curly hair. I've been through about five different heat protecting products and this is the best one I've tried. The directions are also very quick and simple compared to other products I've used. My hair gets damaged pretty easily when flat ironing but with this product my hair didn't get damaged at all; it was perfectly smooth. It also helps hold the curl from my iron. The bottle is small but worth every penny. In conjunction with a great flat iron you'll love it.

I have very thick, long hair! I had been using another product that I was not happy about... until now!!!! I discovered FHI Hot Sauce and read the reviews. I decided to give it a try. I'M SO GLAD I DID!!!!!! I can tell a tremendous difference in my hair!! My hair is now much smoother and shinier!!! Thank you to those that have posted reviews! I will continue to order this!!

Product Rating: 5 FHI Hotsauce
Reviewer: Tina from Orange County, CA from Orange County, CA  6/7/2008

Hello! I don't normally write reviews but I felt this product definately warrants some major kudos! I am a product junkie and I've tried a lot of different products over the years. Anytime I've purchased a product I've always done my research and I read all the reviews. After reading some of the review for the FHI Hotsauce I decided to purchase it. WOW!!! The first time I used it I was speeachless! My hair (which I've always kept healthy) was damaged when I had to go to a different hair dresser for my Japenese straightening - long story short - for about the last six months I noticed my hair has been dry and brittle with a ton of breakage and split ends. I've been using some great moisturizing treatments which are helping a lot but my ends were still splitting and breaking. I needed a good heat protectant and then I found Hotsauce. My search is over - this product is AMAZING! It makes my hair soft, silky and reduced the split ends and breakage (split ends by the way can never be repaired they must be cut off) BUT FHI has definately stopped them from getting worse. I have thick course hair so I used about a quarter size on damp hair and style. If I flat Iron, I use more of it (only a bit) on the ends to protect. Never feels greasy or weighs my hair down. Trust me - purchase this product, you won't regret it!!!

Product Rating: 5 HOT stuff!
Reviewer: Anonymous from   4/22/2008

As someone in the biochemical l field, I feel strongly compelled that I should clarify a few misconceptions for those with a few angsts over certain things that they may not be well informed about, & esp 4 those considering making this purchase or a re-purchase. 1. Alcohols In chemistry, an alcohol is any organic compound in which a hydroxyl group (-OH) is bound to a carbon atom of an alkyl or substituted alkyl group. The general formula for a simple acyclic alcohol is CnH2n+1OH. ~Wikipedia In otherwords, there are such things like fatty alcohols too, not just ethanol & isopropyl alcohol that most of the population only seems to know. If u look at most conditioners, cetearyl alcohol (a combo of cetyl & stearyl alcohol) are your most common ingredients if not around 2nd on the list next to water. Omega fatty acids are also on the list of "alcohols". Google: fatty alcohols. Therefore, "alcohols" are your bestfriend (so long as u have hair, skin & nails & are alive). 2. Silicones Especially amodimethicone, nothing comes close to that silicone when it comes to color & heat protecting & its proven to seal in moisture as well. There are so many studies from big pharmaceutical companies & very well reputated testing facilities & universities that I'm just going to leave to it to this: GOOGLE IT. Even just reading the titles (if nothing else) you can see how well they perform & just how widely they are used. They are also in some of your face serums & almost ALL your hair shine "polishes" & sprays. Amo's little sister is called phenyl trimethicone, if I'm not mistaken, as I've read from my last & most recent research on almost every silicone out there. 3. Split Ends If they're there, they're staying there till u cut them off. This stuff hydrates, coats & seals them so that they aren't so rough & so visibile, but most importantly, so that they don't travel further up the hair shaft. Any stylist will tell u. The longer u wait to have them cut, the worse they'll really get. This stuff just prevents them from getting really REALLY ugly & keeps the healthy part of your hair as healthy as possible so that it is strong enough to keep the splits from traveling up any further. Cut them off & take care of the healthy hair u have now b4 u butcher it. 4. A little goes a looooong way. For people with fine, very fine, and/or oily hair types, it would be ur best bet to spread this stuff on damp hair, water it down a little or even water down enough to put it in a spray bottle & just take a go at it, or as some1 in the Q&A said, just go halfway down & to the ends. The longer ur fine/oily hair is, the easier it is to weigh it down. The thicker & dryer ur hair is, the more u can goof at just how much more ur hair can take. Less is always more, u can always put more in, but taking it out requires a lot more of u than u probably have time for. 5. Lastly, heat styling everyday is never a good thing unless ur doing a heat concentrated oil/moisture/reconstructing "treatment" every other day cuz the hair u see is already dead. If its past the skin & u can't feel it being cut, then its dead. So be good to it. If u don't like something but don't know too much about it 2 begin with, GOOGLE it b4 ur rip on it. If ur natural texture is anything but something close to being str8 then I highly recommend a light mist some kind of fixative (like a high-end flexible hold hairspray) if u have a problem of ur hair not staying str8 esp in humid conditions. They didn't claim NOT 2 have silicone in it. They just said their product is not based on just that. That's where most of ur styling damage protection comes from anyway (if its the right given silicone). Take something, like say Biosilk or Citreshine, or other popular hair serums & products out there, & for a lot of them their main tool is mostly silicone (gets a lil 2 greasy sometimes too). Silicones aren't always the most cooperative in holding a lot of water/oil hair moisturing stuff & can separate right away. "Hot Sauce" utilizes jojoba oils (in the form of crystals which makes them suspendable) & fatty alcohols to hydrate, & protein to & repair holes in the hair's cuticles (again, only the surface gets repaired & the moisture does go to the center when u use heat). HOWEVER, split ends are when the WHOLE SHAFT is ruined, there's no cure @ this point & time (& b4 writing this). All of what I just said explains why people with semi-damaged to healthy hair see a difference while others (esp with hopelessly damaged hair) don't. Moisture is restored, along with that is strength, elasticity, shine, & temporary cover up of not-so-badly damaged hair & not-way-too-many split ends. But ya, $28 for 5 oz is asking 4 quite a bit there, maybe 1 day I'll make the bigger & cheaper but even more pimped out version of it 1 day, LOL!

I don't know what some people think but I know for me a black woman who has NO CHEMICAL PROCESS in her hair this product works. READ the directions and it will do exactly what it says. I live in HOTlanta so I know about heat and this works great on my hair. It's about the only thing that has kept my hair straight and frizz free. I like the other customers wish the bottle was bigger....... A little does go along way though....

Product Rating: 5 WOW!!!
Reviewer: Laura from Georgia  12/17/2007

I bought this product based on the reviews that I read. I am amazed at the results. If this product protects my hair in addition to the results that I have achieved, after only one use, I will be a life long user. Usually, anything that I put in my hair that has any moisture at all, causes it to frizz. I have NEVER acheived the SHINEY, SILKY look tht I have today. Who cares if it is natural . . . it works.

This product works great. It is a pricey for the size, but it's a definite must for flat iron users. Buy this product! You won't regret it.

Product Rating: 5 FHI Heat Hot Sauce Review
Reviewer: Robin from   10/12/2007

I came across this product by accident while on the Folica website. After reading the reviews, I thought why not try it. Well I ordered it, and I will tell you this, this is the best product I have ever used on my hair. My hair used to always look fried, even though I would use good products on my hair. This stuff leaves my hair shiny and healthy looking even after blow drying. Granted it may be a little pricey, but you know what, it works, so to me it is worth it. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
