Product Rating: 5 Love this stuff!
Reviewer: Alisha from Chicago, IL  3/20/2008

I was very hesitant about the new formula...but now I FREAKING CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT!!! The trick is to really know how to use it correctly. The oil is the KEY. You are a huge sticky mess without it and for some reason it only comes with the brazilian wax. I have very coarse hair and this product is the perfect thing for it for under $10. The only downside is the honey smell. It is very strong. But, I highly recommend it!

Product Rating: 5 salon quality!
Reviewer: Fae from   3/11/2008

This wax is great. You really get salon results with this stuff. You don't have to go back over spots, all the hair comes off the first time. I love that you don't have to use cloth strips; it makes me feel like I have more control of the wax. The things that I found that helped were: 1. If you have a piece that is hard to get off, pull off or cut off the excess and re-cover it with more wax in a longer strip away from the hair. Sometimes it is terribly painful if the edge where you are pulling from is right at the hair. If you have a longer strip you can rip it off easier like a bandaid. 2. I usually remove the hair in a sort of circular fashion. Start on the outside and work your way in. Usually, only half of the width of my strip is actually covering hair and I try to extend the strip longer than where the hair is so I can get a good grip on the wax and can pull it off in a quick motion (avoids bruising and ripping the skin) 3. Cover small areas of hair to be removed. Make sure the wax is relatively thin. If it's too thick it will take forever to harden. (but if it's too thin it can be hard to remove) Right when you can no longer see the hair is about the thickness the wax should be. 4. And ofcourse...use talcum powder or other powder (I use an all natural cornstarch powder because I can't use talc) Put this on before you wax. This will make it pull off easier and not stick to the skin as much. Use baby oil to soothe your skin after and to remove any excess wax. I don't recommend this wax for face. It's much easier and safer to use the pre-waxed face strips. There is too much risk of getting this in your eyes or hair. If you've never waxed before, try this on your lower leg before moving to the bikini area. Good luck waxing!

Product Rating: 5 Years of Practice
Reviewer: Kiddo56 from NYC  3/10/2008

So, I have been using this product for about 10 years now. It is the best cheap home waxing kit, although it has taken me years to figure it out. It is messy, and sticky, and if you get it on your clothes it will most likely not come off. I have ruined so many t-shirts that I have changed to waxing topless. You also have to heat it perfectly, and it varies from microwave to microwave. Some batches seem stickier than others. It is really hit or miss. I could not live without this product, but it is hard as hell to use. I even use the bikini and body and leg stuff on my face from time to time, because I feel the wax leaves the skin easier than the face formula. I never use the face formula, it never comes off. And if you don't want pain the first few times, don't wax period. It can hurt with this stuff, it can hurt with a professional. It's so much cheaper than a professional though! For larger areas like bikini area, I suggest Nads strips. They are fantastic.

Product Rating: 5 Wokrs for me
Reviewer: Jessica from Illinois  2/26/2008

I have extremely thick dark coarse hair and wanted to wax my bikini. This is the only product I have ever been able to use. It works wonderfully, and yeah it hurts, but remember you are ripping hair out of your body! It is going to hurt. But it always works for me as long as the hair is long enough but not too long, and I make sure I don't do it during certain times of the month when the skin is more sensitive. I would definitely recomend this product. I don't understand all the complaints about finding the wax difficult to remove because I never have any issues. It always comes off easily for me, but I make sure I don't let it sit too long. If it sits too long then yes, it gets too hard and cracks. If there is any little bit remaining, I just take the wax I just removed and use it to try and pull the remaining wax off, works every time. I also use it on small areas at a time, works better that way. I think it is a great product and now I don't have to fork out $80 bucks to get my bikini waxed. Results really last for a long time too! I wax every month now, and only costs me $10. Great product!

Product Rating: 5 LOVE IT!
Reviewer: Andrea from   11/15/2006

I never tried the old Surgi-Wax, but the "new and improved" stuff I bought today with the maple honey is great! SO much better than using the muslin strips and you only have to wait thirty seconds to pull it off. Does a wonderful job everywhere. Yes, everywhere.

Product Rating: 5 Try it!!
Reviewer: Heather from California  9/25/2006

I have to say that I love Surgi-wax, I have been useing this product for about a year now and have found it sooo much more comfortable than any other form of waxing out there!! I used it everywhere. A trick I've learned to get it off your fingers is to use regular rubbing alcohol or "Goop be gone"! Try that and then see how you like it!

Product Rating: 5 The Best Wax EVER!!!!
Reviewer: SK from Suburb, MI  12/1/2005

Bleaching never worked for me. A little dark hair above the lip is slightly embarrassing and this wax is the only product that lets me remove all the hair in 1 or 2 applications. Those muslin strips never work. Even though this product is not water soluble....baby oil works wonders and at the same time softens the skin. All you have to do is put a layer on that is not too thin and not an inch thick, let it cool to the touch and yank! Works every time. A trick I found is run your finger under cold water and just touch the wax while it is on your body. You can tell when it hardens up. This is the greatest product!

I am a str8 male that uses Surgi-wax on a regular basis to keep the southern region free of hair and I must say it feels great and Surgi-wax works great, Love the clean feel. Try it you will be glad you did. Would like to show you how good it works but I am not sure if they would consider that obscene.

Product Rating: 5 Best I have Tried
Reviewer: hairlessgirl from cleveland  3/1/2005

I have been experimenting with hair removal for ten years. This is the best wax I have ever tried!! As for the "hard to remove" comments - there are a few tricks. First, if you thoroughly clean the area and then dust with a talc or baby powder, the was will grab more of the hair and less of the skin. Also, you cannot let the wax get too hard - this does make it tricky to remove. My secret? Baby Oil! It removes all the left over wax, and if you've done a large area, just take a warm bath and add a few drops of baby oil to the bath - the extra wax will come right off (no scrubbing, shaving, or tearing required).

Product Rating: 5 BEST wax on market!!!
Reviewer: CC from   2/26/2005

Surgi-Wax Expert! As an avid aqua-sports nut who needs hairless skin, I've used every hair removal system imaginable and still couldn't obtain consistent 'salon' results! Finally three years ago I tried Surgi-wax...and the results have consistently been amazing! Firstly--yes it is messing but that's the POINT! NOTHING removes hair like a hot, sticky liquid: enveloping each follicle, hardening to shape and then ripping in one go. If you follow directions; use common sense and keep an open mind you'll get the knack of heating to perfect warm temp; mess-free application and gentle paralell-to-skin ripping without too much pain or effort. BONUSES: A) While other brands harp on their product "being gentle enough to not remove layers of skin," not they generally don't remove hair either. With Surgi-Wax, unless you have sensitive, problem or fragile skin all you generally remove are layers of dead skin cells: adding to the smooth, silkiness of the treatment! Consequently over a year or so of waxing this way you'll also eventually lighten or lose old scars and blemishes--a bonus I love! B) Depending on your rate of hair growth--you will truly be hairfree and smooth for up to four weeks. Some brands say that the more you wax the thinner the hair growth becomes--I've only found this to be true with Surgi-wax! SOME TIPS: 1) Get to know your microwave. Don't blame the product for your lack of common sense--its wax--it can easily overheat to a thin, scalding consistency so microwave instead to a warm-hot sludge which pulls even the strongest follicle from the roots! About +/-25secs in a standard 1800watt micro! 2) Choose a sensible location in your home at which to wax. I use my bed but spread a large, spare cotton sheet down first--if there's spillage/drips onto the sheet--I let it harden and then rip it off. 3) Don't use this product on the bikini area UNTIL you've experimented elsewhere. Once it hardens-it does NOT EASILY wash off. So if you apply it and then have second thoughts about the dreaded ripping--you'll have to spend at least ten minutes slowly peeling it off under tepid/hot water! That said-once you have used it PROPERLY on the bikini area and everywhere else--YOU WILL NEVER want to use ANYTHING else again! Incidentally this brand also makes the plastic strips for face and body...which though less messy only works almost as well.
